The primary function of a
Hair Shampoo
is to gently, but completely, cleanse the hair and scalp. The shampoo is preparing the hair and scalp for your conditioner. So if
your conditioner was great, then you changed shampoo and your hair has fallen
below par (or what you would normally expect from your hair), you may first want
to look to your hair shampoo, and not blame your favorite conditioner.
Hair shampoo removes "the good, the bad & the ugly" from your hair,
preparing it for the return of "The Good", or those things you want to put back into your hair
and on to your scalp with your hair conditioner.

Did you know the first hair shampoo recipe we heard of said to disolve1-bar of castile soap in one gallon of water? Diluting one bar of soap in one gallon of water to make shampoo tells us that bar soap is way too strong to use on your hair and scalp every day. Common sense indicates that it would be best to avoid washing your hair with bar soap whenever possible.
Hair shampoo for hard water is
another matter altogether. If you are among the unfortunate many who
have hard ward, using a Hard Water Treatment for your hair can make a
big difference. Hard water can cause the following hair care problems:
your hair feeling dry, your hair becoming resistant to coloring or
perming, dandruff or eczema of the scalp, dry or flaky skin, thinning
hair, hair color fading quickly, perms appearing to fall out,
discoloration or darkening of the hair, and hair lacking body and shine.
If your hair is suffering from one or more of these problems, and you
have hard water, a good Hard Water Treatment for your hair
can make a big difference! After you use a hair treatment for hard
water, you can slow down the return of
hard water hair minerals by using

We are hearing about shampoos that are sulfate-free and DEA-free. When formulated
improperly, sulfate surfactant shampoos will cleanse
your hair and
scalp very well, but can over-strip the hair of its natural oils. However, when formulated with the right blend of
ingredients, these high-lathering shampoos are excellent for all
hair types, including your color-treated hair! There may be a time and place for more expensive shampoos but why pay more
when your hair and your hair color do not require more? Find a Shampoo and
Conditioner that work for your hair and fit your budget.
