Linoleic acid is a colorless to straw-colored, liquid, polyunsaturated fatty acid of the omega-6 series. Linoleic and another fatty acid, gamma-linolenic, produce prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are substances that are found in every cell, are needed for the body's overall health maintenance, and must be replenished constantly. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid, which means that the body cannot produce it, so it must be obtained in the diet.

Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is a  leave-in treatment that conditions, shines and restores moisture for fine/normal hair. Can be mixed with chemical services, resulting in increased shine and condition.

Oleic acid  is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid  and makes up 55-80% of olive oil, (with only 0.5-2.5% available as actual free acid) and 15-20% of grape seed oil and and 15-20% Sea Buckthorn Oil. All of these 3 ingredients (olive oil, grape seed oil, and buckthorn oil) are also found in various hair care product formulations.


The human body can produce all but two of the fatty acids it needs. These two, linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linolenic acid (LNA), are widely distributed in plant oils. Kukui Nut oil is one of these sources.
